The dates used to make the sugar are the Barhi which have a high sugar content and a brown sugar type taste. Since it is a whole food you can eat these for breakfast and the urge to snack before lunch is gone. They will give you sustained energy that can't be found in food containing refined sugar. Shields Date Garden has some of the best dates. My favorite are the Blonde, Brunettes, Barhi and Honey.
