@robertwc82 By living in proximity to certain people you, to some extent tie your fate with theirs. If the people around you are successful that gives you a greater chance of being relatively successful. Aside from geography language is also a marker of social grouping. It is easier for me to communicate with those who share my tongue. Another reason people band together is for security, when attacked people need allies.
