Blake from SI Screens trains the Projector People team on Black Diamond screen material. Note the demonstration of the Black Diamond screen material versus standard white material at approximately (2:05) of the video. You can see light that was reflecting off of the white screen onto the ceiling completely disappear. Unfortunately our room is not as dark as it could be because we have a light coming in from under the door. Then note the impressive image with the lights on at (2:50). This image looks a bit better in person, but you still get a sense of how well the Black Diamond screens maintain brightness and contrast with the lights on. The image is comparable to a plasma or LCD TV. Blake compares the Black Diamond image to an $80,000 image just a few years ago.

  • Very very nice but I got a question I'm gonna buy a projector by the end of this week and I was wondering if I put a black screen instead of a white screen would I get better contrast on the picture or is it better than the white screen

  • @monsterlokote Hey there! Black screens are good for high-contrast images, especially in settings with high amounts of ambient light. We would recommend a black screen if reducing the effects of ambient light on the image is your main concern. High amounts of ambient light can wash out your image, reducing contrast and reducing color vibrancy.

  • Is it diamonds in this screen? I ask couse the price is very high and diamonds have the ability to slow down light and reflect it very bright and shiny

  • Hello dealerovski,

We've not been given the secret formula for the Black Diamonds. I seem to remember their rep saying it was a 'new material' which I suppose could contain diamonds, but I think it would be too costly for the quantity they produce. I suspect its a glass that acts similarly, but Im only guessing. BD screens are def expensive, but they look great in action.

SI screens has a youtube page. You might pose the question to them. Id post the link if I could. Hope that helps!

  • Im looking for buy one screen projector for my new Panasonic 4000u end of this month but this is not screen itself is like u put that on top of the existing screen I already bought going to is like double dip!!!..

If was screen itself, I would think about purchasing it

  • There are some screen manufacturers that sell the screen material alone, but the BlackDiamond has a little more rigid design, unlike the material that can be easily rolled up and shipped. So, unfortunately, last I heard you can't just buy the material. If I hear differently, I will let you know!
