OH HAPPY DAYS AT SINGING SANDS AND AOBAOGO HAD TO BE ONE OF THE BEST PLACES IN THE WORLD TO WATCH STEAM IN ACTION !!!!
-
Don't know if it's just the particular videos I've seen, but the QJ's seem to be 'very light on their feet'. That is, for a five coupled, small driving wheeled engine, they seem to be very prone to slipping. This video is no exception.

This only would happen in my dream! Thanks for sharing!

This video makes me wish that I could mark up! I'd rather run that than the junk GE AC4400s! Well, guys at work say that I am a throwback to steam days.

cant see how they keep from choking the grates up with klinkers with that crappy looking coal there throwing in there??
-
That show's a real look at other people live's in a place far away from me here in the U.S. We probubly could'nt be any more different yet, in the end, children are the same everywhere. Well done!

Very nice! (again),,

I thought steam locos needed large lumps of coal. It looks like they are using powder

@watchyMCFCwatchy Yes it is very powdery coal. In fact it appeared to explode right off the shovels! I don't know how they managed a decent firebed with that stuff?

Looks as though there is a stoker there.

There is a stoker, and it was in use as well as being supplemented by the two firemen with the long-handled shovels. On easier sections they often fired without the mechanical stoker as the crews got productivity bonuses for saving fuel.
