Saw the actual model of Shakespeare in the National Media Museum in Bradford a while back, and instantly remembered this masterpiece.

Does anyone know what is the name of the song in the background?
-
Does anyone remember Ident on that same Aardman Animations video? That was another video that used to creep me out, along with this one!

I really love this piece of Aardman's work, even though i'm not a Shakespeare fan, when i first saw it (when i was about 9) i was thinking....."wha?"

@BeckiEnchanted I was exactly the same! My mum was given this aardman video by an old friend and i used to love this, though it also use to creep me out - more than any bit when he's putting the crown on and the dumy is slowly falling :)

I think the way its entitled next bares relevance to the meaning behind the story, that even someone like Shakespeare had to impress and it didn't always pay off, but to keep on trying and soon something good will arise from your efforts. I think it also tells people to be your self which is the best way to impress someone. It also could be seen as sexist as it seems the doll represents a woman and that the shakespeare character has control over her.
This really used to creep me out

What have you understood about that story?
- Is it a cast for playing the 35 Shakespeare plays in 5 minutes?
- Is it Shakespeare when reached heaven?
- Is it a theater performance for God to get fun with humanity?
- Is it the story told by a dead person about his own life when he reached heaven?
I love to think it's an open end and a story with many senses... It's wonderful, the best Aardman animation before Nick Park joined in.
