There's no need to be rude. hotdiggity was nice enough to share this video with us.
The Gentle Leader is a training "tool" to teach dogs not to pull on leash. It can aid in helping the dog to sit. But as you can see in the video, she still has to train Estella by luring her with treats. The GL just aids in the training.

So, can we try that walk without a gentle leader?

Of course, there are many ways to teach a dog.

But GLs force a dog, they don't train. It's much like pushing a dog's butt down after you tell him to sit. The dog isn't trained, he just forced to sit. Prhaps that's why you didn't get the job.

No, GLs can't force anything, any more than a leash attached to a collar can. GL's prevent pressure on a dog's throat (so no gagging if a dog pulls). Same principle as a halter on a horse. If the dog pulls, turning the dog's nose is easier on both person and dog than pulling on the dog's neck. As you could see, it was my focus with Stella, voice feedback, and use of food as a lure and reward that molded her walking well on leash. I think GLs are lovely as long as no hard corrections are used.
