"Freedom" was released in 1984, becoming the group's second UK #1 hit.

Wham! had already enjoyed a successful 1984 by the time Freedom was issued in the autumn of the year. Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go had given them their first UK #1 and had then reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in the USA. George had then gone to #1 with a solo single, Careless Whisper.

Freedom, a largely uncontroversial song, was #1 in the UK for three weeks and featured on the album Make It Big, which was issued at the same time. Of Wham!'s four UK #1 singles, Freedom sold the fewest copies.

  • I George miming this? hope not

  • Love the 60s beat to this 80s song. George Michael has always had a tune for retro in all his looks and music

  • George is an amazing singer........you feel relaxed and happy listening to this song. He is so adorable. we all love the hair!

  • i salute!!!!

  • @tomamife sure man anyone who makes good music for us to enjoy we love them whoever they are

  • Without a doubt ....the Top song of of the 80s....It encapsules both joy and witty innocence of that era.....A true homage to the Motown sound....and last but not least ....the great voice of George Michael.

  • I was looking some Happy days fotos, and Ted Mcginley looks quite a bit like GM.

  • some you people really don't appreciate Andrew. Andrew is more than just the other guy from wham!. he helped GM become the charming man he is today and transformed his look before wham! debuted.

  • the way he dances here is hilarious. BUt good song tho!
