We need more Bishops like this. These politicians feel that they have authority in the Church, this is not so. They are causing scandal in the Church by leading the faithful into believing that abortion, contraception, and divorce should be allowed. To be Catholic is to be a follower of Christ in your personal and daily life. The Church is NOT a democracy, Americans need to know this, and you have no right to try to change an infallible teaching of the Church.

In America, no citizen is obliged to have religious or moral beliefs to serve in elected office. But elected officials claiming to have religious or moral beliefs, are obligated to act and vote consistent with their claimed beliefs to worthy of any credibility, trust, or respect.

Patrick Kennedy doesn't have to vote in defense of unborn human life to be member of Congress. But he does have to vote that way to be a member of the Catholic Church. Shame on him for forcing Bishop Thomas Tobin to publicly remind him of something even a child can understand. Bishop Tobin is not telling Cong. Kennedy to vote like a Catholic. He is basically telling him to stop pretending to be one.
