Removing the hammer spur on a Smith and Wesson revolver is easy when you have the right tools. In the GunTec presentation Larry Potterfield, CEO and Founder of MidwayUSA, removes the hammer spur from a S&W model 10 using a Dremel tool and cutoff wheel. Once the spur is removed, the hammer is smoothed up using some files and cloth backed abrasive.

  • Now the pretty revolver looks castrated...

  • @baconator490

    S&W doesn't make a single action revolver.

  • why would you wanna do that?

  • that question good safe smile

  • LARRY!!!! thanks

  • @HeroOfTime121 Isn't it easier to simply buy a bobbed hammer and replace it? They can't be that expensive and you wouldn't have to damage the existing hammer to do it.

  • @HeroOfTime121 okay thanks :D

  • @thedarkinhell Less chance to snag on clothing. Not really a big disadvantage either because in self defense you wouldn't shoot it in single action.

  • why would you wanna do that?

  • @shem1911 you may be right, plus it's nice and smooth in and out your pocket..
