Demo of the new Math TIP on Windows 7 beta 7000. Shows the basic possibilities, but also what it can't do, still needing improvement. For Basic inking input on a tablet pc, it is OK. But with regard to user friendliness (mainly adequate recognition), there is still a long way to go. Microsoft certainly has to improve on this before this function leaves beta. It is otherwise only half a product, and thus windows 7 remains inadequate. In htis video 3 problems are shown.

  • what's the music?

  • @sunsande :

some kind of melow drum and bass I picked up somewhere. I think it is mentioned at the end of the video.

  • when I press input it doesn't paste the formula in Wordpad, does this mean that it only works in Microsoft Word?

  • I think so. I' m not sure if wordpad recognizes forumula's. Word does.

  • I've just tried microsoft Math, but it is much worse in ink recognition than the Math TIP, in my experience. Even biochemical formulas can be recognized better with the Math TIP than microsoft Math. I hope this was helpful

  • This is not supported on vista. The TIP is supported on vista.

You are right that chemical formulas do not unfortunately work on the Math TIP. I have not heard of or worked with Microsoft Math yet. I'll check it out. Is there a free demo somewhere?

  • This was done with screen capture with camstasia studio. You can not see me writing in real time physically because it is only a screen capture. I used my Lenovo X60 tablet pc for this. It has both resistive and capacative touch. If you have a laptop or desktop, you could do this with a regular (ink) tablet (for writing).

  • How are you writing? i understand it is a tablet kinda thing, but your not on your screen, I was wondering how i could do somehting like this

  • Awesome!

It supports Vista? I have Microsoft Math 3 and this thing looks better, because you can enter Chemistry stuff, in Microsoft Math you can't.

Thanks for the nice review video!

You can make a review video of Microsoft Math too?
