In 2010 people build houses pretty much the same way as they have built them for the last hundred years. Yes, we use circular saws instead of hand saws, and nail guns instead of hammers, but otherwise most of the materials and manual techniques are identical. People cut lumber and nail it together to make the frame of the house, side the house with bricks or siding, nail shingles on the roof, wire and plumb it by hand, put up sheetrock and manually coat it with plaster to make the walls, paint it with brushes, rollers and spray guns by hand, etc.
In this video you can see all of these standard techniques and materials. It will be very interesting to watch over the next few decades to see how much these techniques and materials change.
thats messed up. they put up the cabinets before painting the kitchen. i usually push some weight around to at least get that primed and first coated before cabinets. if i had this i woulda said backcharge!

I'm surprised they didn't use steel framing instead of wood. It's cheaper, won't rot, won't get eaten by termites, will increase the life of the foundation because it weighs less, won't twist, often comes with holes for wiring, and more environmentally friendly Wood simply isn't as cheap and high quality as it used to be. Sure, you lose some efficiency with steel, but good insulation can fix that. They also layed brick over it, and that helps, too.

Around 7 min you said they put fibre glass insulation in other words asbestos.Asbestos has been linked to lung disease and lung cancer in the UK and has been banned for more than a decade now.I hope you investigate this.Good Luck

I'm surprised that contour crafting, monolithic dome, or manufactured housing (a la Bucky Fuller's dymaxion house) haven't cought on yet. From a technological perspective the monolithic dome and manufactured house have been feasible for decades but they haven't taken off.
