Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD, is one of the most common childhood behavior problems in the United States. Roughly one child in every classroom is diagnosed with this disorder and controversies exist about its over- as well as under-diagnosis and its proper management. As a result, front-line professionals working with children, such as pediatricians and school personnel, need access to evidence-based information about the diagnosis and treatment of this highly prevalent condition. "ADHD: Managing the Social, Medical and Emotional Impact" will provide up-to-date information about the diagnosis and long-term course of ADHD as well as evidence-based treatment strategies. The report will include an emphasis on the practicalities of ADHD management in today's busy pediatric practice.

On Thursday, September 4, at 8:00AM EDT, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC will present a Pediatric Grand Rounds lecture titled "ADHD: Managing the Social, Medical and Emotional Impact." The presenters are William I. Cohen, MD, a developmental-behavioral pediatrician and director of the Down Syndrome Center at Children's Hospital, and Brooke Molina, PhD, director of the Youth and Family Research Program at UPMC's Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic.

  • Do you treat DS with ADD medications so dopamine levels are raised. Focalin XR had been very effective for my DS son.
