Update 1/21/12:
The post about BART having the oldest train cars in the nation was misprinted. I meant to say that BART has the oldest rolling fleet in terms of heavy commuter rail. The main point is the average age of the fleet. With 669 cars, the average age of 30.1 years makes it the oldest. The 439 A and B cars built by Rohr were the original cars, built in 1968 and entering service in 1972. Originally meant for 25 years of use, they were rehabilitated in 1997-2000, giving them service up to 2015.

This is a run along Interstate 580 Westbound in the Bay Area, from the cities of Dublin/Pleasanton to the city of Emeryville, north of Oakland. The primary focus is the MacArthur Freeway between Castro Valley and Oakland, but includes the Arthur H. Breed Jr. Freeway through the Dublin Canyon.
This is the first of a series of videos from the San Francisco Bay Area. This one is of particular importance to me as I traversed this freeway countless times as a child.

I thought MBTA had the oldest train cars in the nation with subway cars from 1969 & PCC's from 1943.

@thomasrosiefan1 BART has the oldest overall fleet for commuter rail, with an average age of 30.1 years, from the APTA. MBTA's average was 21.0 years. I'll fix that in the annotations so it is more clear.
