  • Alice Verlet was a superb virtuoso Belgian coloratura with pure legato and great agility. Some critics claim she rivaled Melba, Sembrich, and even Patti. Unfortunately, she made only a few records. Her recording of Ophelie's Mad Scene from Thomas' Hamlet is a remarkable piece of singing.
