EMDR is proven to work. Your disbelief doesn't change this fact. My Father has been practicing clinical psychology for over 40 years. He's seen some amazing traumas reduced to less than a worry.
It's worked for me, dozens of people I've known, hundreds of my Father's patients and tens of thousands of people who were previously living with debilitating traumas.

It sounds EXACTLY like what homeopathy enthusiasts say. If it fails, they have some excuse prepared, like "You didn't go to a good practitioner", or some bullshit like that.
But i'm not even claiming that EMDR doesn't work. Maybe it does. Why wouldn't it? It uses techniques from other tested procedures. It would be like saying that aspirin + holy water is an effective formula against headaches.
I bet the eye movement stuff is just distraction. Any gentle distraction would work.

This made me want to kill Hitler. Is that good?
It also turned me homosexual in under 3 minutes... And is that normal?

i did EMDR "therapy" back in 2006 and let me tell you - IT DOES NOTHING! I am not saying this for any other reason except to help get the word out that this has no medical basis whatsoever. Its LITERALLY nothing more than some LED lights lined up in a straight line that go side to side (I did the one with the goggles so I didnt see anything but the light) - for those who say it "worked" is like a placebo effect. When I did it, I was saying it could be better used as a sleep aid than anything!

@manifestintention Im starting emdr soon and i was wondering if u have done it urself ? And how were the results ?
EMDR is freaking a godsend. It works so damn well for everything including physical illness. I would definitely try it. You have nothing to lose. You can do the tapping on your legs and you don't have to use your eyes. You just have to keep an open mind, go to a therapist, and try it for yourself. Everyone has negative emotional energy stuck in them from childhood that needs to be released.
EMDR BABY!!!!

As an ongoing patient of EMDR, I can say that it has absolutely blown me away. It is literally like magic.
I don't blame people who haven't tried it for bashing it. I bashed it before I tried it too. It was nonsense. I went in there angry as hell, and trouble with anxiety. 20 minutes. I went back there a month later, and she asked me if I was still anxious. Nope, it was gone for 6 months STRAIGHT. Mind you, some people really suck at doing it to you effectively. You need to find a good doc.
