I think Radu's timbre would be very close to the castrato, perhaps one of the best examples we could find today. Wasn't the castrati sound said to be flutey, airy, ethereal, not female but more boyish, correct? Now, if Radu would perform some spectacular coloratura/ornamentation wouldn't that be good enough to be compared to what the castrato might have sounded like? Someone correct me if my conjecture is wrong.

Found it! Thanks. The author is Henry Ryland. Too kind. Keep Radu coming. He's truly amazing :-) Hope I can meet him one day.

Also, the superb female sopranos Gundula Janowitz and Maria Cristina Kiehr demonstrate several vocal elements (technical precision, minimal vibrato, excellent breath control, pure tone, and even a small element of masculine timbre at times)that have some similarity to castrati voices.
Exquisite as usual! More Radu please!
PS: Can I ask the title and author of the picture at 0:35? The one with the boy with the lyre? Thanks

The painting is of young Orpheus charming the animals with his music. I do not have the artist's name at the moment because I simply had a cache of paintings selected for this one production rather than keeping it under the artist's name.

Thank you. I have found over the years that sometimes printed notes that accompany recordings have misspellings.
