Japan is mainly singled out as it is the only country to have breached the:
- United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea,
- United Nations Charter on Nature,
- The Antarctic Treaty System,
- The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES)
- The International Convention on the Regulation of Whaling
- Lying to the world: it is the ONLY country doing it under the pathetic lies of "Scientific Research".
- They are also the ONLY country not doing it in their own territorial waters...

TOGETHER WE CAN END WHALING
How many whales have to be killed to do any type of "research"? Legitimate scientists take extra care to not harm any of the creatures they study. If it's absolutely necessary, they'll kill maybe ONE so to examine it for the greater good of all the rest. How come this Japanese "science vessel" is a factory ship (with military equipment onboard)?

@USDAChuckSteak By IWC standards yes, Research Whaling is legal, but u have to remember that the IWC has passed resolutions by majority, asking Japan to halt or omit the lethal aspects of it's research. By the standards of the Madrid Protocols and Antarctic Treaty, the research being conducted by Japan in the Southern Ocean is illegal.

i mean we don't kill humans to investigate about disease why kill whales when taking a tissue sample is much easier with a tissue gun

Everyone knows the "research" angle is a BS loophole. Who needs a video for that? The problem is, they admit right in this video that what the Japanese doing is technically legal because of the way the IWC is set up.

you don't need an entire whale to do research, wait, let me rephrase, you don't need a quota of whales to do research, you only need a tiny skin sample....all other researchers do that.
and the japanese are so high tech too, they can easily get whale DNA. it is obviously a disguise to catch whale.

This makes me sad, Japan you must stop this senseless killing you are selfish and short sighted, killing doesnt help save a species, especially when the population is so low. Over a 3rd of the whales killed last year were females carrying babies, so you can multiply the killing by 33% as they were killing unborn whale calves & Its not just Japan who are killing whales either, Norway, and Iceland along with Japan kill over 2400 whales each year. Our children will ask us why we let it happen!! :(

One thing was was very clear is that, as of today, the taking of whales for research is completely legal. Changing that is the first and most important step if anyone wants to stop whaling.
