@area51er6 - Bear in mind that it's one thing to pass a selection course and then to have to pass another one after you've already proven yourself the first time round. He probably just had enough or didn't feel it was worth all the hassle.
I remember an SAS sergeant saying somewhere that no trooper is ever as fit as he is on the day he passes selection - you can practically see him glowing.

I used to skydive and have a few BASE jumps... I could NOT do the trainasium. That thing scares the shit out of me.
