Driving a NASCAR car at Texas Motor Speedway on March 14, 2009. This was the "Rookie Experience" of the Richard Petty Driving Experience.

The car I'm driving can go approximately 180mph flat out. I peak at around 140mph in this video. They limit your speed by having you follow an instructor car, which you'll see pull in front of me a few seconds into the video. I was to follow the instructor car's drive lines and stay 3-4 car lengths back. You'll see me a bit further back than that in the beginning and a little closer than that after a few laps when I get comfortable with the track.

This was an unbelievably FUN experience!

  • WOW! I am very likely buying a package for my boyfriend for his birthday next month. Can't decide on the 10 lap alone or paying the extra $100 for a 4 lap ride along as well. Obviously, the driving is the best, but do you think worth it to add the ride along?

  • @u42744 I haven't done the ride along, but I'm tempted. With the ride along, you'll actually be going FASTER. I've heard it's an exciting experience. If you have the money, I'd suggest doing it. You'll never forget it!

  • GREAT JOB!! THATS WAS FANTASTIC! i did just 1 lap in my corvette just last week. yea just one lap only got up to 75mph tho. check out the video of mine. how much was the run???

  • It was a $395 "Rookie Experience" package. Not a bad price.

  • wow... how cool is that...!!! awesome... How fast were you driving...?

  • I peaked at about 140mph.

  • Thanks... wow... that's quite fast...

  • No, the contract stated that the driver isn't responsible to damages to the car except for acts of gross negligence.
