i can only imagine what hte king was thinking when Jai killed himself..'Damnit he was my last heir'

I think you messed up on the moral of this story. One, the empress had an incestuous affair with the royal crown. That is enough to be killed. Two, you should read about Chinese history (read about the Ptolemy family in Egypt, too). An emperor had to be wary about the people around him, even his own family. Throughout history were incidents of backstabbing for the imperial throne. So the moral of this story: Trust people but not with your life; always plan for the unexpected.

@magicbunnylol You're kidding me right? It's a movie, you retard. If you didn't like it, why did you even watch it in the first place? Even more, if you have a shitty opinion, why don't you keep it to yourself? Go troll else where.

this story is seriously messed up. whoever made up that story will go to hell.

@nothinglikesurrender The ending was pretty good, I mean, you don't need them to tell you every single detail do you? It's movies like this with the suspenseful and ambiguous ending that make it a good movie. BTW, if you knew the lyrics to the song, you'd know it's far from cheerful.

That ending was deeply unsatisfying, what happened to the characters? Gong Li screams and everybody vanashes to some cheerful music :(

@MrsNorris55 and yes i wouldnt spend more time on that mammary gland - obsessed guy even if he responded, although you did make me laugh at your comment =)

@MrsNorris55 i tend to agree with you but it's the way he phrased it like taking the empress' life when she did no wrong except marry him was nothing. there is always the possibility that the same amount of bloodshed, if not more, will occur as the medicine officer's wife already knew what happened and could tell anyone including her sons out of pure hatred. the emperor wanted to kill a lot of them regardless anyway the third son was going to kill the crown prince for the throne too, so no diff.
-
@johnlegal I think you've pretty much summarized it. Though I agree with gaxxag that being promoted by this guy was worse than being promoted by Darth Vader.

@UNKNOWNx2514x I think the argument is just that, had he killed her quickly, a lot of other people wouldn't have had to die. That's pragmatism at its most basic ... but it doesn't exactly make it right.
So much for the Empresses earlier promise that nobody would have to die.
The emperor could have avoided all of this by just killing the empress more directly once he knew that she knew about the poison when she refused to drink it the first time. Trying to force her to knowingly kill herself over a long period of time was just asking for trouble.
Moral of the story: don't be related to a deceptive, crazy, evil emperor.
Being promoted by him was worse than being promoted by Darth Vader.

@wanshei Those palace maids are true maids. There were no push-up bras, no padding to breast implants, no surgeons to put things in. This was serious boobs to boobs womenpower. Those maids were the epitome of a true maid not too different than a whorehouse where you faced your customer face to face and hump with the strength of your spirit. The difference between a house maid and a palace maid.
