Do i need soil for the Micro Swords and Vallisneria? Also, could i add the soil even if i already have fish in the tank?

Extremely beautiful. Just got a bunch of Odessa's trying to get them to breed.

Excellent breeding tank. Very natural.
What song do you have playing on this video?

@mrsandnhs There's a lot of fish if everything was full sized, but the babies are still young. I sold and gave away most of the fry when they got bigger.

Wow, this is inspiring! Just planning a new tank with Odessa barbs. What kind of gravel (or sand or soil?) are you using?

It's a type of clay that's sold under the brand name fluorite. But most gravel will do for valls.

how long did your micro swords start to spread around like a carpet from the day you bought them ?

There are two types of swords in the tank. The short ones are the micro swords and the tall ones are Italian Vallisneria. They grow similarly but there are some differences.
The micro swords grow fairly slow in my tank. It's taken about 2 months to double the number of plants that I started with. The Italian Vallisneria grows very quickly though. It seems like I double the number of plants in the tank every week.
Even one week later, the tank looks very different now.
