  • Your autoblock is a bit long, and in the event that your hands come off, it could get hung in your rappel device (which is nifty). When you were in the tree it was shorter. Just an observation. Other than that, it looks like an easy, effective, and very functional system. Good vid.

  • When me & a buddy went to Zion we used a Petzl SHUNT as a back up to our Descender. Worked great & allowed us to hang handsfree for fixing rope hung on rocks/roots & taking great pics.

  • what knot would you tie around a anchor?

  • couldnt you also just use a regular sling with an overhand in the middle as an extension? minus the fact you wouldnt be able to do it on the fly, and connect to the anchor like you could with the chain. but as purely an extension..?

  • excellent method. i use this setup exclusively now. the chain reactor, pirana, attache, centralized autoblok, just awesome.

  • better buy a stop petzl

  • That is really cool. I have the metelous version of the chain reactor, out to the garage to my wall and practice seting that up, and using it. I dont have the same rappeling device, I have a petzl hiute(sp?)

  • I'm a sporty climber. Hearing this makes my head asplode
