  • I'm currently doing this to my 96 Camaro with gloss black. I'm going to be applying the black primer this week.

Cool! Send us link to the photos when your done

  • 50/50 might give you bubbles, I did my truck and the way I mix the paint which works perfect, is to get a drill and a wisk, mix the paint with the wisk in the drill on high, you will see tons of air bubbles, they will be there when you stop the drill. Add mineral spirits slowly, until when you stop the drill, 95%of the air bubbles dissapear immediately. Done, perfect mix for thin air bubble free coats.

I have been looking at a paint mixer called the squirl mixer. I am going to guy that. to mix it very fine with my drill.

  • next trip to the store, buy yourself a rubber sanding block, it will make wetsanding alot easier and more uniform

I found a meguire unigrit color sanding block for $4.65 I am going to go and use it for future color sanding. Also i am going to get a spray paint can holder with a pistol grip. This will be for future primer and clear coats. It should go on more uniform.

  • After you get a couple of coats on there, I would use 1000 grit wet to knock it flat and smooth it out to get ready for the next 2 coats. Anything rougher than that....your gonna lose paint fast. Just finished wetsanding my hood today, used 1000 grit wet, and it smoothed it perfect, while still leaving something to bite to. My truck has been a experiment with rustoleum for the past year, always trying different things and new techniques hope this helps

I am going to go up to 1000 grit on the primer. I talked to the guys that my dealership that do stuff like overspray removal and color sanding. They said it would stick just fine even though it is a fine grit. I agree with you about less then 1000 grit losing paint fast.

  • @vfIskullangel how did your car come out? do you have any pics? because i wanted to paiint my car the same color

  • where the hell does everyone get these air compressors for the paint guns? I mean what are some good ones, well what is the cheapest I can go before it doesn't work, and what PSI? everyone says a do it at home or like $50 paint job, but that's given that you have the right spray unit, or am I over-thinking it and can just use rustolium's automotive paint in a can?

  • Rusto is the shit

  • were could i get that kind of paint from???
