I'll bet popping the spinnaker at 30 is exciting! Must have that gunshot sound. It's also a good way to find out if there are any small tears ;-)
As far as sailing in 30 plus, geez the Access dinghies we sail just won't do it. The point to wind and .. stay there. Reef all you want they still won't move much.
Regarding the spray and goggles, Gill has some racing goggles I've wanted, but they're too pricey for me. Would be great for the Weta at 30 :-)

So Nice !
I used to sail on formula 18 and looking for solutions which could bring to me the same feeling .. I didn't for now and it seems so similar. What is the ability not to Turn over into the water as we certainly must be attached in the seat ?

hi ledleg.. I have simply not been able to capsize a Weta while seated (you can do it with standing crew) .. and I have tried very hard indeed in winds of up to 30mph... also you do not need to be held in the seat.. the boat is never violent. We have deliberately turned one over to see how easy to right it.. it took 3 men, about 300 kilos, standing on the the leeside hull and then one person took about 2 minutes to right it with no real effort.. I will put the video up for you to see.. Mike

Thanks for the video, it was interesting and the narration really explains well. I may disagree with 10-15kts being high wind though ;-)

We have often sailed the Weta in winds around 30mph and it a very wet ride... you need glasses or goggles... popping the spinnaker above 30mph produces some really exiting rides!
