This is a summary of my afternoon commute. An hour long film of commuting by bike would be boring. If you are thinking about becoming a cycling commuter this will show you the kind of roads I ride.

  • You really shouldn't pass traffic on the Right as they may not expect to see you there, and they may run you over without even knowing it. I try not to ride on sidewalks as it has many times the risk of riding in the roadway. Just thought you should know this so you won't get run over. Ride safe.

  • Good for you. There are some of us under sixty's who should be as active as you. Thanks for the vide and GOOD RIDING.

  • Five years ago i started bikeing the one mile to work as it was fast than walking which was faster than driving... Now at 46 and car-free for 4 has been great.. but loosing wieght is expensive as clothes are not free.... : /

Another drawback to bike commuting... the way some women look at my legs and butt.. Like I'm just a piece of meat.... So, if others are thinking about bicycle commuting.. think twice....

  • good man. i have up most respect for all cyclists.

  • I salute you. Gary fisher bikes are nice....be safe

  • 25 pounds of weight off? Wow. That is a load off your heart.

I started cycling in earnest about 6 months ago and seem to have leveled off at minus 14 pounds, and thought I had lost a lot.

I am going to google for helmet mirror now.

  • Great video - inspirational. AT 60, I am sure you don't need someone like the poster below telling you what to do. I commute 5 miles and do the same thing you do i.e., take side roads where I am in the middle of the lane, away from the door zone, and visible, but at other times I am on the sidewalk. In other words I use common sense. People who ride in the middle of the road on busy highways are free to do so (I just hope for their kins sake that they have good health and life insurance.)

  • You need to be in the road when you ride! Quit using the narrow shoulder or you'll be passed too closely! If u ride in the lane you'll be much safer, and you'll be seen more sooner.
