I think the reason why Alien Sex Fiend is considered to be part of the Gothic culture because so many Goths listen to them.

It was pretty erm.. inventive for the typical 80s goth era at the time. I guess that's why I like them, my desire for uniqueness from a band is top priority.

Cool band, but I like the Sisters of Mercy a bit more.

I like the Sisters and even met Andrew Elderidge when I was 17. But for me, ASF were always far more eclectic musically........

Or, you know, I kind of grew up in this scene with my parents taking me to venues such as this when I was young and grew up in this scene.

Yes this is goth! This is the post-punk goth that was originated from post-punk itself and has a lot of punkish musical atmosphere in it.

From this stuff has originated the industrial mixed goth and other subgenres.

And Alien Sex Fiend also has some glam in it too so it isn't as "dark" or atmospheric as some of the new bands might be.

And what's all this Therion shit? Therion might have a small hint of goth in it, but that's as goth rock as it goes. Symphonic ain't goth...
