There are so many movements you can do to engage the shoulder muscles, and various other muscles to create the shoulder movement as well as stabilize the shoulder joint.

Most of the upper body movements we will engage shoulder movement some how

It is important to strengthen the shoulder and understand the problems should pain can cause, not only to professional athletes, but the everyday person who can sleep properly because of shoulder pain.

Once we understand the shoulder, we'll learn that Imbalances in strength between opposing muscles can potentially lead to injuries.

There are three bones found in the shoulder- the scapula which is also called the shoulder blade, clavicle which is also called the collar bone, and humerus which is the upper arm bone.

The muscles responsible for movement in the shoulder include:

Serratus Anterior

Subclavius

Pec Minor

levator scapulae

rhomboid major and minor which work together

trapezius

The medial, posterior and anterior deltoids

We're going to talk about the rotator cuff which is a group of muscles that stabilize the shoulder. This is often neglected, and is often the cause of should injuries.

We're going to be talking about what muscles are being worked during different movements.

These movements of the glenohumeral joint will be covered along with which muscles are being worked:

Shoulder Flexion

Shoulder Extension

Shoulder Abduction

Shoulder Adduction

Transverse Abduction

Transverse Adduction

Transverse Flexion

Transverse Extension

Medial rotation or internal rotation

Lateral Rotation or External Rotation

So stay in tune, lots of good stuff coming!

Always seek advice from a doctor if you are new to working out or have suffered from injuries. Don't take the word from just one doctor though. Keep an open mind, do your research and ask various professionals for their thoughts. You have one body, take care of it! • what is the difference between the medial and lateral deltoid?

  • @hammlars

Its just wording. They are the same. The medial deltoid has an origin on the lateral acromion- to build the medial deltoid you must do lateral movements. The main function of the lateral deltoid is shoulder abduction, moving your arms to the side.

  • CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE A VID ABOUT THE NECK ?

  • @TheDslide

I was wondering if I should cover the neck, but now I will

it seems like everyone including myself, knows so little of about maintaining healthy shoulders it is only a matter of time before an injury occurs. im a huge fan of strength project from the calisthenics, plyo-metrics, etc but can't say i've been looking forward to a video quite like this, especially coming from one who suffers from rotator cuff tension time to time :/
