Stephen Doherty - Colonel Frazer Reel

Played on a 5 keyd Sam Murray D wooden flute, a few glitches here and there but to be honest I hadnt really practised it or warmed up and just went for it.

Your fluting is amazing. How long have you been playing?

@BardicPiper, Stephen doesn't generally check this channel any ore, so I will do my best to answer for him. I don't remember how long he has been playing, but he won the Senior All Ireland Championship on flute in 2008 and he is currently the flute player with the Irish band Grada. (Check out their new album "Natural Angle"). So he is not bad;)

Well, Grada has never had pipes. But Stephen has been their flute player (with occasional box thrown in) since Alan Doherty (no relation) left in 2008.

@Legertymusic Piper is what I call flute players most of the time cause I think flautist sounds stupid when I say it. But I live in a place with one red light, trying to self teach myself to play this marvelous instrument. Beside the point, they have themselves one heck of a player now. Where I can I find music for this particular tune? I want to be prepared when I learn how to read music : D lol

 Well a piper in Irish trad would be an uilleann pipe player. I don't think I have ever heard an Irish musician say "flautist". We just say "flute player" :)

I have to admit, good tone for a sam murray!! I prefer cotter flutes myself but great job! Good tone and breathing.
