  • @empresseffects Sorry for the confusion. I understand that the FV-500 can't be used as an exp. and volume pedal simultaneously. What I mean is, with the FV connected to the phaser's control port, is it still possible with the phaser off to operate the FV as a volume pedal or would I need to re-locate it inbetween my guitar and amp? Either way, basically, what is the advantage of the L version if the H can fulfil both functions?

  • @Uberloinvongenchler You would have to relocate the volume pedal between the guitar and amp. You're right, the H version can do both volume and expression on the phaser, so I'd go with that. I think the reason they offer both version is because some pedals/products require an expression pedal with a lower pot value.

  • Final questions. obviously it would be nice to be able to use the pedal for expression or volume but I am only likely to use it in the exp. out. on the phaser. Could the H version work as a volume pedal when plugged into the exp. out on the phaser or would it need to be moved 'in the chain'? Also, if this is not possible, would the L have a better sweep/'feel' (a bit like log vs. linear pots for volume?) Many thanks, and sorry to ask so many questions but this is an expensive purchase for me!

  • @Uberloinvongenchler I'm not sure exactly what you mean. You wouldn't be able to use the FV-500 as both a volume pedal and an expression pedal at the same time, if that's what you're wondering. When using the FV-500 as an expression pedal, there would only be one cable coming out of the FV-500, and that would be a TRS going from the expression out jack on the FV-500 to the control port on the phaser.

The L and H versions will have the exact same sweep/feel.

  • my mistake, the high impedence pedal has a 250k pot, not 500k

  • @Uberloinvongenchler If you want to use the FV-500 as both a volume pedal and an expression pedal, I'd say get the H version, otherwise get the L version.

Higher pot values are good for volume pedals, because they don't load down your guitar as much.

  • Hey, isn't that Andy Roddick?

  • Great video! Hope you make more like it.

  • @empresseffects (i'm assuming yours doesn't need the lower value pot in the exp. pedal) - excellent - i'm ordering your pedal and a boss fv500H now.

  • @empresseffects I have heard that for the general use as a volume pedal, the H version is usually preferable for use with electric guitar. Can you just clarify this as I want your expert opinion over hearsay. Obivously if pot value doesn't really matter then I'll probably get the H, but I understand one has a 25k pot and the other 500k - significant differences. Thanks, Charles
