Pay attention all drummers! read this

Are you covering your drums with tape and moongel? if so why? you don't need to. Often drummers use moongel to take away resonance and get rid of alot of sound that you can still sqeeze out just by using it properly. Just how different does this drum sound when i put the moongel on it. Quite alot different, even though i only used a tiny bit. Better or worse to you?

You don't need to use moongel unless you really need it, or you really really want it. Use it to enhance, not to take away anything from the sound. I am using half a piece of moongel in the video, and just that small amount can change the sound dramatically. I have not used any effects what so ever on the video.

In most cases, drummers use moongel because they can't tune drums, it's true. Use it by all means, but moongel can be over used or just used to hide the fact that you can't tune your drums. If you like the sound of the second part then you might want to copy. Just put a tiny bit over the bearing edge to take the flappiness away, not the resonance. No drum mics were used, just the camera mic. Also in the video, i am using the hardest drumheads to tune, the clear ambassador both sides, bit of a challenge for you?

Personally i do not use moongel because i like the drums to be fully open under the mic and to sing. The only time i use it, is when i have the snare in a super low tuning.

Enjoy!

    Let your drums breathe!!!

    Control the room instead.

Come watch my videos and see what it should sound like.

  • @FZ6X19FAN Thanks, but i don't use damping on my drums ever. I don't like it at all. This is just a demonstration of how little you need to use, if need be.

  • On December 24 at 8:00 in the morning, a young 14 year old boy by the name of Scott Johnson was found dead. Doctors couldn't come up with the cause of his death. His mother checked his emails to see if she could figure out what happened. Turns out he was still signed into myspace. She found he had gone to sleep after he read and didn't repost a chain letter. If you don't repost this to six videos a girl with no face will kill you tonight. Sorry don't want to die 4 hours ago
