Dankzij Jeannine Masset en Ruud Schamhart heb ik kennis mogen maken met Fungie. Deze 4 meter lange wilde tuimelaardolfijn heeft zich 25 jaar geleden gevestigds in en om de Dingle Bay in Ierland. Sindsdien is de mens zijn grootste vriend. Elk jaar zoeken we Fungie weer op, zodoende heb ik het risico genomen een camera mee te nemen de zeewateren op om dit fenomeen vast te leggen; en met succes!!:D Deze schitterende unieke beelden zijn ervaringen voor het leven en het is zeker aan te raden Fungie een keer op te gaan zoeken als je in de buurt bent!!

@patjoenkids Hi Patty, I don't know if you ever read this, but we have moved to Ireland! It is aug 2011 and we still play with Fungie each evening! Look in facebook under Rudolf Schamhart. It is full of Fungie photo.s!

This is one amazing video... we saw Fungie on a boat trip 2006 and later on watched him playing from the tower. I asked on the Dingle facebook website just in the last 2 weeks, if Fungie is still there and apparently he is.. he must be VERY old now!

we had the good fortune to see Fungie many time while we visited Ireland in 1999. It is nice to see he is still doing well...hope to swim with him again some time. Great job Jeannine!

Hi, yes swimming from the lighthouse beach. If you just enjoy the moment this creates a space for him to appear. Best to swim at dawn when there are no other boats, and moor your boat,wear wet suit and snorkel. He can come up to you, but be patient, he dictates contact. He is beautiful to behold so its worth it. A boat has an advantage, he loves to play near them. Do not turn sharply and know where he is before you start the engine, to protect him from an accident,best of luck!

u swam with fungi?? was it out at the mouth of the harbour?? i just bought a boat and im going to dingle in a month. does he come up to you when you are in the water?? or how does he act??

Bedankt voor het kijken van mijn video clip.
Als jullie in Dingle zijn ga dan als het weer goed is naar het kleine strandje bij het oude torentje meestal speel ik daar met een rood rubber bootje FUNGIE FOREVER in de baai tussen 6 en 9 uur in de avond. ik woon namelijk zelf in Dingle.
