I hope that you find answers soon. The search can be so frustrating.

I hope the appointment goes well. If it is varicocele, I'm happy to report that the surgical intervention is not particularly awful, although we'll have to see how well it works.

My husband and I had ICSI due to male infertility and now have twin toddlers. My husband is very open and honest about our problems conceiving because of MFI. He's never been ashamed to talk about it, or say how much it hurt when he found out. He felt guilty for not being able to get me pregnant and he still apologises to this day for 'being no good at making babies'. Wishing you and your wife all best. I really hope your surgery works. Come on swimmers- you can do it!

ah yes, varicocele. Quite common issue, so it seems (surfing around the net for info I came across several forums on this topic) - results of surgery are oftentimes encouraging... so keep it up!
We recently discovered we have a similar problem as yours and I suspect varicocele might be the cause - we're seing an andrologist real soon.
Happy Dance! You have options!
You are a very special person. I know first hand what you are going through, being at the end of my tree. Thank you for sharing and good luck.

Thank you so much. I hope that we all find our way to joy. No tree truly ends, but the pain is very great. I hope we can find the strength to smile in our pain.

Well, I'm thrilled to hear that you ended up with short people of your own. I'll pass along your well wishes to the "swimmers". I think the overlong basking in the hottub of varicocele has made them stupid and lazy, but perhaps now things will start to move along.

caliman018,there is a controversy about the role of varicocele surgery in treating infertility,I understand that you have azoospermia ,it is important to differentiate between obstructive and nonobstructive azoospermia ,if there is sperm retreived by testicular biopsy then ,now we have the technology of ICSI which is very successful if there is no other associated factors of infertility.best wishes.

At this stage, less invasive methods are preferable, although certainly down the line getting the sperm via biopsy might make sense. The problem is that once you start cutting tissue, there is the risk of damaging it and impairing reproductive ability. ICSI is also very pricey. However, if the current round of surgery has had no effect (and I should find that out in about a week) we'll have to look at a biopsy and ICSI.
Thanks very much for the advice though, much appreciated.
