The POD X3 Live is no longer in production. Please check out the newest POD HD series at http://line6.com/podhd/

In this episode of Line 6 Tips & Tricks, superstar session guitarist Kevin Dukes (Don Henley, Jackson Browne, Billy Joel) shows us how to make a gorgeous clean tone by blending two very different amp models in POD X3 Live.

  • Is there a vid of the pedalboard going directly to PA? I'm afraid it could sound crappy.

  • @TheBelva85 We don't have a video like this yet but we will definitely consider it for the future. The POD X3 Live sounds great directly into a PA. Use the XLR outputs and set your output modes to Studio Direct and you are on your way.

  • I don't know how to create a clean sound from an empty bank. I got the x3 live yeasterday and i'm kinda lost with that. Distorted sounds are easy but i can't make it sound clean at all. Is there something i'm missing?? thanks man!

  • @Lugaid Hi. We have a bunch of people over at the Line 6 Forums that might have some advice for you. Just visit the line6 website and click on Community in the top nav. Thanks.

  • @erickk716 Kevin said "The cabs were the stock cabs associated with the amp models. Not sure of the names, they're the Twin and AC30 cabs"

  • @RijadHabibovic Well, depends on WHAT you play.

I'm a metal guy, and currently use a PODx3Live, and love it. I had an HD500 for about 1 week and took it back. I use dual tones for everything, and the DSP limitations on the HD500 crushed my soul. You get 2 amps/cabs, gate and verb (if you're lucky) before the DSP craps on you. The amps/tones are amazing, but the limitations kill you.

If you're fine with single amp tones (which are great), then the 500 is your best bet. Dual = X3

  • POD X3 multi-effects the supposedly characterized by good distortion, but there are no files where they can get decent distortion, since most of tones to play with the loud sound very weak or does not distinguish the notes.

I who can not get a good tone for Metal or is podx3. if so please could make me retract

  • I have a question? POD X3 LIVE, OR POD HD 500??

  • @variaxguitar It really depends on the amp. Some amps have top handles and you can purchase a "POD Mount" from our online store. This mount props the bean up and has a bottom plate that you can slide under the amps handle. If your amp doesn't have a top handle then you may need to get creative and build some sort of stand and maybe even screw it directly into your cab.

  • @karachi90 Yes, it does.
