The second of the lorry engines being installed in time for the End of Season Crankup in October. Rebuilt by Miles she runs like a clock. Camera audio makes her seem a little rattly.
the cilinderwalls rely on splash lubrication from the crankshaft. when the engine is cold theese cilinderwalls are usually quite dry so it helps to increase lubrication at start and it helps sealing the pistong rings when cold starting , thus improving compression and therefor combustion :-)
by using the handles you inject diessel which vaporasied by the injectors will condensate on the cold cilinder wall this will cause a tighter seal of the piston rings, it forms an oil film, this is actually best to always do before starting these engines when they are cold.
think you mean the piston compressing the air not cylinder. plus putting a bit of fuel inside the cylinder does not decrease the amount of space in the combustion chamber. and fault diagnosis is exactly what they are used for.
I would also find it alot easier taking a lecture from someone who could spell and have a clue what they are talking about.
you oviosly understand nothing about diesels they are compretion igntiton, they rely on heat created by the act of the cylinder heating air by compresing it, thus if you increse compretion by decresing the amount of space in the combustion chamber by filling it up a little diesel by firing the injector with the handle, nothing to do with fault diagnosis
@StevesBeast It's used mainly for double decker buses in the 1960s, Daimler A-E

doesn't make sense. its also mainly for fault diagnosis not for cold starts.

it incrases combustion by increasing compresion

it increases combustion not compression.
