New Orleans jazz clarinetist Johnny Dodds and his Washboard Six recorded "Bucktown Stomp". It was 1 of 4 songs recorded from a recording session on July 6, 1928 and originally released on Victor label 78 rpm record. This is an early 1950s reissue on the "British Rhythm Society" label.

Includes Natty Dominique on cornet, Honore Dutrey on trombone, Johnny Dodds on clarinet, Lil Armstrong on Piano, Bill Johnson on bass, and Baby Dodds on washboard.

  • In 1950 I bought three 78's from a school pal for sixpence, half my weeks pocket money. There was two Spike Jones and this one. May have been weary blues on the other side I'm not sure now. the record soon got worn out and I haven't heard Bucktown Stomp untill today Thanks for jogging my memory.

Greetings. The flip side of this was BLUE WASHBOARD. There was another BRS record, BRS21, with BULL FIDDLE BLUES / WEARY CITY. I've added those sides as Video Responses to this video. Enjoy!
