Wow that's very new word for me about Assimilation! Never knew about this! Glad that I learn from your vlog!!! I often saw your fingerspelled "B" then "r" before "y" name for Yosmite Sam on some of your vlogs!!! B-) Big THANK YOU!!!!
Exactly...Same concept as hearing's accent such as "Southern "accent, "New England" accent, "Midwestern" accent, etc etc includes different sound in some of each letter or word such as "A" , "SH", "TH"... ASL and sign language also have different accent like Carl's different way of finger spelling of "B" or different ways of ASL on each word as well.
wow - this is an AWESOME- amazing how organically the mind works in assimilating & calibrating what sign or letter comes before or after and how it adjusts the sign or letter in the middle to accommodate for the flow
i dont know much about morphology and phonology but as i watched u i was thinking maybe the "B" and "F" examples r almost like in spoken language how "s" by itself or "h" by itself one sound but if "SH" it become a totally different sound so to with "if A follows B then thumb out"
