This video shows how closely large ships pass fishing boats anchored on the edge of the channel on the Columbia River. The fishing boat was anchored on the edge of the channel and, obviously, was convinced he was safe at that location. What the fisherman didn't know (because he hadn't been listening Channel 16 that day) was that the M/V Eupen was a hazmat ship, with a USCG-mandated 500 yard security zone around the vessel at all times. The tanker's cargo was anhydrous ammonia.
