Recorded live at Espresso Yourself Music Cafe in Powell, Ohio.

LYRICS:

Where will these roads lead me?
When will I ever see
the things I need to carry me on my way?

Tell me, where do you think you'll go?
Follow the gentle winds that blow?
You can't go wrong if your doing as you please.

Listen to the Voice Inside
From your dreams, you must never hide
You've got to learn to take it as you go

Waiting only grows you old
Listening is only doing as you're told
The time slips through your fingers
just like rain

Listen to the Voice Inside
The time slips through your fingers just like rain

Rejyna comments on her song:
"This song was one of the first songs I wrote. My art teacher, Rita Gray, asked me to write a song to perform as the soundtrack to the presentation at the Governor's Art Show Awards Banquet. I think I had only written about four songs by this time in my early days. I had to borrow my good friend Danny Ryan's Sigma 12-string for the Governors show. After hearing the song with classmate Karen Davis on harmonies, Rita suggested I present it to the senior student council to be used as the class song. To my delight, it was chosen as our class song. Then my creative writing teacher, Jack Carter-North suggested I collect $1 in advance from my classmates so I could afford to record and press it as a 45 rpm vinyl that I would deliver to the 'investors' at graduation ceremonies. Again to my surprise & delight, I collected enough money to record the song with Karen and Tom Jordon on bass at Star Track Studios with Ed Whitney and Bob Fister running the boards, mixing, mastering and handling the pressing. After delivering the pre-paid copies, I sold the remaining copies at graduation and through Buzzards Nest Records, making just enough money to buy my own Alvarez acoustic 12-string - a guitar I still own to this day. This is the first time I performed this song in probably 20 years and I only did so at the request of my cousin Jenny Broome, who remembered the songs from years before when she was a teenager. I really felt I had outgrown the song, and that it didn't meet my current compositional style of more developed and complex arrangements. Even yet again, I was surprised at how fun the song was to play when I added the looper and harmonizer. Thanks to Rita, Jack, Ed, Bob, Karen, Tom and Jenny, I have added The Voice Inside to my current solo set and am really excited for new audiences to be enjoying one of my first compositions nearly 30 years afrer it was written on a whim for a friend. The lyrics are meant to encourage those who are faced with uncertainty or indecision, if we listen to the inner voice and follow our heart maybe we can reach our dreams and goals. There is no time to wait or waste, no time to heed the words of those who may mislead us. Even though we're not sure where we will end up when all is said and done, if we follow our inner intuitions maybe we can avoid the regret of wishing we could go back and make different choices in my life?"
