Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of Human Future in Space 1994

The Pale Blue Dot is a photograph of planet Earth taken in 1990 by Voyager 1 from a record distance of 6 Billion Kilometers away from home, showing it against the vastness of space. By request of Carl Sagan, NASA commanded the Voyager 1 spacecraft, having completed its primary mission and now leaving the solar system, to turn its camera around and to take a photograph of Earth. It was subsequently used by Sagan as the title of his 1994 book of the same name.

UPDATE : The Voyager 1 is on its way to the interstellar space going out on our solar system knocking on the distant stars and ready to encounter other distant civilization somewhere in cosmos. This space craft is destined to wander forever beyond the cosmos.

UPDATE: As of March 21, 2013, The Voyager 1 Spacecraft officially exits the Heliosphere

If ever, just maybe....someone gets to make a biopic about Carl Sagan's fantastic and inspiring life & legacy....this speech should be the ending....then we can end it with him walking onscreen and speaking the phrase:

"A still more glorious dawn awaits. Not a sunrise-but a galaxy rise. A morning filled with 400 billion suns...the rising of the Milky Way-and hopefully, we'll all be there to see it"
