The New R-word is Respect

its unealistic to think you will be adored and treated with respect all the time but i don't think its too much to ask to avoid using the word around a person with a
intellectual disability (like when you avoid swearing around a child)
its my opinion that people with mental health issues (like me) want to be treated like an average person...we don't want to be worshipped like a god or abused like we're the scum of the earth

Ugly to unique.

@kashoph I just chose your comment to reply on 'cause I didn't like the idea of looking at them all.NOT SO TRUE!!! I maybe will still need the old R-word but will use it just for people who are too heavy to live with or, maybe even, be close to. See what I'm getting at and do I really offend such people calling them retards? I think NOT
I must add that am, due to a traffic accident I had had, 13 years ago, often called a retard by those heavy ones I'm talking about.Decide for yourself.Cheers M8

A new one: before, "L" meant "loser", now it should mean "love"
-
Several of the people i know should watch this, and drill the thought of 'retard' as being offensive, my niece who is only 7 years old is picked on by classmates as young as 6 or 7, it hurts, and this is right. Respect should be the main alternative here
-
How about respect for all individuals? I do not like being made fun of nor do I like how this campaign focuses on mental retardation only. Everyone is subject to being made fun of for whatever reason, be it due to disability, being overweight, etc. I don't know anyone who likes being made fun of regardless.

This video rocks!!!This should a million more views!!

i agree with you completely, BUT people don't walk up to a disabled person and call them retarded like they would to a black person and call them an offensive name to degrade them. theres the difference. they call a normal person who does something dumb retarded, not because they're actually retarded. basically the video wants an end to all insults jokingly or not. which i think is stupid
-
thanks for posting this it helped my class stoped saying it because i told them how to help because this word hurts my sister
-
I don't suppose you walk around using the N word? People used to use that term all the time until black people started to stand up for themselves and say it's offensive. People with disabilities need advocates for them. Why would you choose to disrespect this particular group of people anyway?
thats awful anybody that picks on you just because ur sister has a disease is an insensitive jerk, don't let assholes like that bring u down.

Thanks for this, what a great video speaking out against the exact ignorance demonstrated by comments below. Rise above the least common denominator and lead us to a better world!
