Can You Run It?
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/ This video is a short, simple tutorial on how to check if your PC is up to the minimum system requirements to play Skyrim. I'm using Windows 7 but the steps will basically be the same for Windows Vista and Windows XP.

The first thing we have to check is our operating system. Skyrim will only run on Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7. To check that, just push your start menu and right click on My Computer and select properties. I have Windows 7 so I'm in the clear there.

Next I have to check my CPU or Central Processing Unit. I need at least 2 gigahertz, which can be checked in the same window that you used to check your operating system.

Next I need to check my RAM or Random Access Memory, which is a form of computer data storage. To play Skyrim I will need at least 3 gigabytes of RAM, and I have 4 gigabytes of RAM and at 3.8 gigabytes are usable.

Next I need to check my HDD, or my Hard Disk Drive to make sure I have enough space on my Hard Drive to play Skyrim. Go to start and then left-click on My Computer. I need at least 15 gigabytes free to play and right now I have 50 gigabytes free so while that isn't much space, it's enough to play Skyrim.

Next I have to check my Graphics card and I need at least a 512 MB card. Go to start and type in DXDIAG in the search box. This will pull up the DirectX Diagnostics Tool. Click on the Display Tab and you can see that my Total Approximate Memory is 1696 megabytes, plenty for playing Skyrim.

Next my sound card needs to be direct x 9 compatible, so click the system tab and check to see if you have at least direct x 9 or higher. I have direct x 11 so I should be good to go.

There are recommended system requirements that will allow you to play the game with high definition graphics. I probably will be running Skyrim in a lower setting but I bet it will probably look similar to the Xbox 360 version of the game. The main reason I want this game for PC is for the inevitable mods that the extremely talented Elderscrolls modding community are bound to come up with.

I hope this tutorial has been helpful to you and I hope you are ready for Skyrim! Love and peace from my PC to yours.

  • I went to a site called "Can You Run It?" and it told me that I can run skyrim only on minimum settings and cannot run it on full recommended settings! I have a PC set-up that has everything built into the monitor with the keyboard and mouse being plugged into the thing to save up on physical desk-space!
