@Runesinger Thanks for posting this! I lived in WA from 1982-1989 and I'd never heard this song so Yelm Middle and High Schools were obviously not teaching it (I graduated HS in '89). Nice slide show, too. And I definitely agree with your sentiments about WA politics.

@chrisl7388 It's too bad our State song is not taught in the schools anymore. I learned the State song in 3rd grade, but that was back when society was a little more normal.They are denying the school-children today something beautiful. Why are they so oppose to showing children things of beauty?

@chrisl7388 yea.... spend a week in canada and you will see that is NOT true, there quality of life is so much better than ours and there all very wealthy, the min wage in american dollars is like 15 dollars, there money is stronger they live longer, there a very socalist country and yet they still have all the freedoms we have in fact there fede3ral government has waay less control over prvovincal laws than our federal government has over state laws

@59swl, if you want to talk about 'questionable' groups or ideologies, socialism is the most questionable of them all. it has failed miserably everywhere it has been tried, eventually leads to the loss of all individual liberties, kills economies via lack of competition and incentive for innovation... i could go on and on and on. perhaps YOU should get out a history book and start reading.

I sang 'Washington, My Home' in the turbulent '60's and early '70's in, gosh, a choir from the public school system (Gasp!). Performing it before - surprise again - such questionable civic groups like a professional women's group, Elks, and at a Washington State Lawyers (before they became, what you probably feel, so 'left-wing'...) convention in Moses Lake. Tell me, where did you sing our state song again?...
