My daughter and I describe her favorite parts of the Nintendo DSi experience - and note that her favorite things really have nothing to do with the paid-game experience. In fact, for two days she's been almost exclusively using the DSi operating system to play with the camera, manipulate her music (loaded on an SD card), and play Bird & Bean, the game we downloaded with the free points we got for buying it. She has lots of DS games she could play, and even got a new game this weekend, but she's been obsessed with the DSi's native features.
It's also telling that a little girl who just turned 5 figured out the DSi's camera and sound controls in minutes...
NOTE: For our family, this is an upgrade from the original DS, so its not the incremental step many might take from the DS Lite.
