This video starts my second batch of Dolphin captures of Mario Kart Double Dash running on top of the v2 of this excellent Gamecube emulator.

Needless to say, Mario Kart DD plays @full speed on any modern & highly clocked CPU equipped with computer (the higher the resolution, the higher the clock speed requirements). My E8600 Dual Core frequency is currently set @3.6 GHz, granted I didn't push it too high but the marginal FSB boost helps in dealing with those fast paced GC & PS2 games.

Resolution at the D3D plugin level is set @ 717x400. Speed is good but not perfect (predictable artefact due to the use of AntiAliasing), Note that you shouldn't be playing GC roms on an emulator if you have the opportunity to play them on the real thing ;), especially if you don't own the corresponding boxed games.

A word concerning playing game videos at 100% speed :
- You may download each of them and set 1.2x speed in VLC (or any media player that supports it) during playback
- You may use a small browser add-on by Enounce which allows to change playback speed of Flash movies on-the-fly : MySpeed (shareware)
http://www.enounce.com/products
- You may watch them as such, speed is actually pretty decent

Kudos to S. Miyamoto & to the authors of Dolphin, the best Gamecube emulator to date !

  • What program did u use to record this?

  • @MrGangraped I use Camtasia Studio and its TSCC codec usually. No freeware, but comes with a trial period. I am not sure I may capture Dolphin at full speed with my Dual-core based computer, but I will try again.

  • @Deleauvive hi so is this a rom? and if so I've recored a video with camstudio and I didnt want my voice in it but the microphone still recorded it, can you help?

  • @squirtlewater

Well it's a rom obviously, I can provide you with the full filename if that helps :

    Mario Kart- Double Dash.gcm

About recording video games with Camtasia, don't bother if you cannot record as you intend to, there are easier programs out there like Fraps. In fact, Camtasia authors might not be aware people are using it to record games as it's really an educational / tutorial authoring tool.

  • @Deleauvive also what is the emulater and rom?

  • @squirtlewater

As stated above, the emulator is Dolphin v2 (v3 is out!), which can be downloaded from

    dolphin hyphen emulator dot com

the game is Mario Kart Double Dash!, US version

    Original comment :

"MarioKart races onto the Nintendo GameCube! 2 riders & twice the thrills!"

Unfortunately, MK DD doesn't run @ full speed on my capture.
