Built between 1899 and 1929, Penn Museum's main complex protected artifacts for almost a century. Over the years, it became an antiquity itself. The design, upgrading, and replacement of the building's systems demanded precautions so the project would not compromise the Museum's architectural beauty and historic character.
Marvin Waxman Consulting Engineers (MWCE), a division of Urban Engineers, overcame a severe lack of space by "burying" the new mechanical and electrical room below the Warden Courtyard, out of sight of the grand entry.
