  • I used to see David Borden around town a lot when I lived in Ithaca from 1999 - 2004: post office, library (where I worked), & so forth. I could never really talk to him; he always (in my presence) a very (pardon the obvious pun) spaced look in his eyes. Saw him perform live at free concerts at Cornell and Wownet Cafe (now gone). The best was the 30th anniversary reunion show of Mother Mallard at Cornell in 1999; Bob Moog was there as well, participating in a Q&A before the show! Good times!

  • I love the story of their "after-hours" visits to Bob Moog's factory, a wonderful tale from a wonderful band who really should be far more known than they are! Where did you get the spoken word interview from? I presume you layered it on top of the track.....I would love to hear the entire interview if its possible to buy, beg or steal!

  • It does not get much better than this.

  • awesome love synth...thanks for this great share...enjoy mother mallard band also with the benrubi family andrew, stef and jay from lower merion, pa andie rock eenjoy all share all love the earth////////love just lov love love

  • very nice!

  • great old footage - thanks for sharing :D

it's along the lines of the Reich '28 Musicians' record, w/ the manual 'note entry' keyboarding that would later be automated to an extent w/ sequencers a la TD, Schulze, etc.

It suffers a little because with both hands going at it all the time the timbre is static...fine for short pieces and quite hypnotic, but so limiting compared to how say TD would 'program on the fly' and morph the sounds AND the note sequences simultaneously.

    Outstanding bits!

  • Doesn't someone somewhere out there have some additionalo video footage of MMPMC in live performance back in the late 60's or early 70's that you can post here on YouTube for all of us to see and hear? Please check around your attic.... There must be something caught with a lens & mic somehow............

  • Sounds similar to Ceres Motion :) Great:)

  • It's called WATERWHEEL and it's from the MOTHER MALLARD album LIKE A DUCK TO WATER

  • Super groovy historical video. Thanks for posting it!

  • This is awesome. Thanks for posting it. They were the first all synth band, I believe, predating European synth bands, such as Tangerine Dream. If you like Riley, Reich, Glass, Rich and Roach, check out MMPMC's greatest hits from the early 70's. Take my word for it. You won't be sorry.

  • I think this would be really nice if it had pictures of 'real' Mallards doing what ducks do!!!

  • Nice David, that is a historical document, save that. It brings with it the promise of all the great synth. The stuff travelling over the bridge and then loading the equipment off the truck is priceless.

  • This is available on the 'OHM+' DVD

  • This is incredible on so many levels :)

  • OMG SO KEWL!!!!GREAT!!!

  • Thank you SO MUCH for posting this and submitting it to Analog Synthesizers... this is invaluable! I've always wanted to hear them, and this video has some great footage in it. Thank youuu!!

  • Where did this come from?
