I didn't hear of her until the clip of simple life from family guy. Now i'm singing along to her songs, amazed at her talent and her beautiful voice.
Back in the days when you had to have talent to sing and not auto-tune.

I have seen JUNE with KENTON several places around the Cincinnati area. Always a SUPER treat

@TheRecordChanger I agree, she sure did, her voice matured, wish she were still here.

She's simply wonderful

When I think of Big Band Girl singers of the 40's, June Christy comes to mind.
Beautiful voice, she had that quintessential sound of that era.

@aherna9557 and she just transitioned into the 1950s perfectly, representing that west coast/cool sound quite well...

Unjustly, June has been largely forgotten. Spread the word - I've never heard a better Jazz singer. I heard my Dad playing her one day - hooked. Buy her albums while you can - they keep going in and out of print.
Also, you might see Andre Preview's...Sorry, I mean Previn's, name in a lot of the credits.

@amimillie I certainly agree that Previn's name appears quite often in the liner notes of some great albums of other great chick singers of the era, including Ms. Christy's--in fact he's responsible for my favorite Doris Day album: "Duet."
Another overlooked name in the credits is Pete Rugolo, the arranger responsible for this side. What Riddle was for Sinatra, Rugolo was for Christy.
