Cristina Kirchner has been sworn in for a second term as Argentina's president after a landslide re-election in October.

And while life in the last decade for Argentines has improved enormously it remains to be seen whether her support base will last if inflation - which is amongst the highest in the world at more than 25 per cent - continues to rise.

Al Jazeera's Lucia Newman reports from the capital Buenos Aires.

  • Argentina is a new hope for the world. Kirchner is the prime example to what politician should do in that she puts her country before the world or any worldly affairs. May the IMF and World Banks fail. Hoplefully other countries will follow Argentina's example. God bless that nation and Iceland for resisting world dominion and unification. They will remain free.

  • @javy926 Oh fuck off you bigot. Prime example of a retard who lashes out anything and anyone that disagrees on him on even the smallest things. AJE maintained a largely bias-free objective representation in this video. Even after they talked about the _reality_ that she is one of Argentina's most powerful presidents, they quickly go back to mentioning that she has a largely good relationship with the people, having managed to win them over and secure her position as president.

  • @terwilligar1981 Wow - as the world gets smaller and moves together on common ground you want to build walls and split it into them and us??? You worry about this undefined "world" as using you?? I think it's clear Kirchner and her band of anti-democratic loonies are already using you....

  • @krackersdave My friend you build a people, their pride, their culture, and their welfare while looking strong. Or you can look weak by rolling out the red carpet by allowing outside influences to take over your country politically, financially, morally, culturally, and everything in between. I do not agree with everything this lady does. But make no mistake if given the chance the world would use Argentina and then throw it away like it did in the past with it's economy.

  • @terwilligar1981 Are you for real??? She's banged the war drums and spouted dangerous nationalistic hate to win the election then turns round and seizes control of the free press????? Argentina is only going one way ... dictatorship...

  • No mention of her immediately seizing control of the free-press in Argentina? Not a good sign.. couple that with battering the war drums and nationalist rubbish she mouths and the signs are not good for Argentina.....

    Peron all over again...

  • Nice to see a dynamicl woman with some passona - Lets hope she doesn't impail herself on that boggy Island issue

  • @esunsinverguenza Well, Argentina can give its land back to the descendants of the millions of slaughtered natives, and then we'll talk.
