"Legitimate" - Vice President Joe Biden's continual foot-in-mouth routine is usually good for a few laughs. But there's no humor to be had in his recent statement in Brussels, Belgium.

Here's Biden's quote: "Some American politicians and American journalists refer to Washington, DC as the 'capital of the free world.' But it seems to me that this great city, which boasts 1,000 years of history and which serves as the capital of Belgium, the home of the European Union, and the headquarters for NATO, this city has its own legitimate claim to that title."

Uh... Excuse me, Mr. VP -- was it the Belgian army that rescued Europe from Adolf Hitler and the fascist axis powers? Was it Belgium that provided the military forces that kept Europe free during the era of the Iron Curtain? Was it Belgium whose leader said, "Tear down this wall," or stood toe-to-toe with the "Evil Empire," or kept the Soviet Union from swallowing western Europe? And who funds NATO, anyway? Who funds Belgium?

"Principles that later spread to Europe" This piece alone wonderfully shows his total arrogance and ignorance.

Is he speaking of the principles of enlightenment? The American founding fathers were in close contact with European intellectuals and the ideas of enlightenment were brought forward on both sides of the Atlantic.

But maybe its a bit much to expect Mr Limbaugh to let his patriotic ignorance behind him and instead embrace a little bit more actual education.
