Ted Heath was a British band leader playing a "Suite" written by, of all people, "Fats Waller" in the mid 30's while visiting England. The composition was a wide departure from his usual jazz upbeat music.

  • Fantastic to see a young Don Lusher -- I had the privelege to see him in concert shortly before he died -- a lovely man and a very fine musician

  • According to Wikipedia, Don was well respected as a musician in the U. K.

  • My father's favorite.

I was looking for something to post today in his honor and this was a wonderful gift... an actual film of Ted Heath playing live.

Thank you for posting... it made my day!

  • @Strongscotch I was brought up on this music as my Uncle played in the band he is the trombonist on the end on the right he is Jimmy coombes the first to join Ted when he formed the band .

  • My parents liked them too - took them ages to convince me that this Ted Heath was a different one to our sailing loving, classical conducting, former Prime Minister of the same name :-)

  • One of the finest bands of all time.... what a trombone section!
